The Hoarder

The Shadowfell is a realm of despair and melancholy. An everlasting darkness envelopes the land and all that exist in this place. One of the greatest terrors of the land is actually what an adventurer may bring with them.

This realm of existence will amplify and ever give form to negative emotions. If one feels truly lost or is enraged, they may have to face the manifestations of those emotions. Negative emotions, distress and dread given form are The Sorrowborne.

These monstrosities are born from the sorrow carried by those unlucky enough to find themselves in The Shadowfell. Most appear as twisted humanoids that only seek the demise of the one that made them.

A creature born from needless hoarding, terrible greed and gluttony, The Hoarder!

Skulking around the dark of The Shadowfell, The Hoarder searches for treasures of great value. It's bloated form consists of countless treasures stored within it's back. It's back has multiple tooth filled openings that lead to it's hoard of treasure.

Whenever it opens a maw a strange gurgling sound mixed with the clanging of metal treasures is heard as it tries to keep it's hoard from being regurgitated. When new treasures have been added, it's back shudders and twitches as it tries to accommodate more items. Beyond the sound of treasure and gurgles, it's muffled groans, moans and heavy breathing can be heard as it searches for treasure or analyzes treasure it has found.

A party encountering The Hoarder have been known to lose items of great value as it care little for the adventurers themselves. The Hoarder targets rare items, artifacts or it's favourite - wondrous items like a 'Bag of Holding' or 'Portable Hole'. Once it has an item in it's grasp, it will immediately throw it into it's back for safe keeping.
