Agharicus, The Ancient Deep Dragon

In the dark depths of the world lies the labyrinthine caverns of The Underdark. Those live in the Underdark have adapted to their subterranean environment and it's hostile inhabitants.

Agharicus, an ancient deep dragon has lived in the world below for so long that he has a domain within it.

His realm is littered with the remains of those that have haplessly wandered in or those foolish enough to try to steal from his hoard. These twisting caverns are also home to his servants consisting of myconids, undead and unfortunate souls that are enslaved by mind-controlling spores. The fungi in the area grows more dense the closer one gets to the private sanctum of Agharicus, where his hoard is kept safe.

Agharicus over the centuries has become infested with deadly fungi all over his body. Few fungus clusters have pushed through his ancient scales causing some to fall off - most have been recollected and placed in his hoard as they are quite valuable. The symbiotic relationship between Agharicus and fungus that has infested his body has granted him abilities not normal for dragons.
Through the fungus, Agharicus can emit terrible clouds of spores with an array of effects. Some can control minds and enslave those affected. It can be immediate or a delayed loss of control. Some can cause hallucinations, severe necrotic damage and disease-like poisoning.

Unlike most dragons, Agharicus magically swims through the air instead of regular winged flight. Since it rarely used it's wings in the twisting caverns of the Underdark, it's wings eventually atrophied.

Agharicus' hoard is a collection of riches, but it covets two things more than anything. Secret knowledge and music. Tomes of great knowledge or Artificer's Librariums are quite valuable to him. Agharicus greatly enjoys sheet music, magical musical instruments or artifacts that play music - like music boxes or animated instruments. When a skilled bard seeks the wondrous instruments within his hoard, Agharicus will sometimes take the chance to enslave them with his toxic spores. A skilled bard to enhance the myconid band that inhabits private sanctum of his lair is a priceless treasure.

Agharicus is known for his cruelty to those below him, but not quite like the sadistic nature of their distant chromatic kin. It isn't about or above inflicting pain, but it would rather get any use out of those it encounters. Through social manipulation, threats or just controlling their mind through spores.
The Ancient Deep Dragon views other creatures by the value they provide them. If they have knowledge, skills or items that can be of any use to the dragon, they aren't looked down upon as much as others.
Agharicus, similar to his Green cousins would rather pull the strings from behind the scenes than all out confrontation. If things come to straight combat, he will use all his abilities to take control of the situation and preserve what he can... then of course discard what he deems useless.
