The Guilty

The Shadowfell is a realm of despair and melancholy. An everlasting darkness envelopes the land and all that exist in this place. One of the greatest terrors of the land is actually what an adventurer may bring with them.

This realm of existence will amplify and ever give form to negative emotions. If one feels truly lost or is enraged, they may have to face the manifestations of those emotions. Negative emotions, distress and dread given form are The Sorrowborne.

These monstrosities are born from the sorrow carried by those unlucky enough to find themselves in The Shadowfell. Most appear as twisted humanoids that only seek the demise of the one that made them.

One of the more terrifying Sorrowborne is 'The Guilty'. Born from overwhelming guilt for ones actions, it represents the heavy burden, the gut wrenching and heart tearing feelings one may endure. Rather than symbolic, this creature truly feels and lives through these pains.

It's form is top heavy as it's legs should not be able to carry it's the burden that is it's body. Strange hands hold it's horrified face so that it can't look away from what hurts it. Through it's chest and gut, a jagged blade is sheathed. A set of small arms hold the blade in place until it feels the need to use the blade against it's quarry. For when the blade is drawn it tears through the flesh and gouges it's scarred heart.

In combat, it seeks to bring forth the dread it bears. It's very presence weighs down those that threaten it. When The Guilty is heavily injured, it draws the blade of regret from it's chest. It's wails of pain harming those around it. Once the blade is drawn, The Guilty lashes out in a rage to eliminate those that try to stop it from killing it's creator.
